Clothing and Personal Items:

Remember: Total weight of all items must not exceed 17 pounds (not including bucket). Buckets must have your name, trek family name, and company color prominently displayed on the outside (you will decorate with your family). Buckets will travel on the handcarts so this gear will stay with you at all times. Put items that can leak in zip‐lock bags for protection.
  • 1 5-gallon bucket w/ gamma seal lid for easy access
  • 1 old coat (heavy and warm) with a warm hood or ski cap
  • (this can be put in your trash bag with your sleeping gear)
  • 1 rain poncho or raincoat
  • 1 pair of Leather or Cotton light-weight gloves
  • 1 pair of athletic shoes or hiking boots (DO NOT BRING NEW ONES)
  • They should be broken in and comfy with good tread. Check laces to make sure they are not worn!
  • Old tennis shoes or water shoes for river crossing (no-flops) and a plastic bag for storage.
  • 4 pairs of sturdy socks and 4 pairs of inner socks
  • (wool blend, acrylic or polypropylene "blister free socks")
  • 3-4 sets of underwear
  • Sleeping clothes – pajamas or sweats.
  • (It will be cool at night and you will want warm sleepwear)
  • 1 utensil kit (spoon, fork, knife) and a plastic or tin cup
  • 1 Camelbak, Canteen or Waterbottle (very important!)
  • 1 hand towel, washcloth and bar of soap
  • Deodorant, Comb or brush, Toothbrush and tooth paste
  • Contacts/ solution 
  • (If you use contact lenses, consider wearing glasses during the trek – dusty/windy conditions!)
  • Band-Aids and small supply of mole-skin
  • 3 or 4 heavy duty garbage bags (33 gallon) to store your sleeping gear.
  • 1 flashlight or headlamp with fresh batteries
  • Lip balm with SPF, Sunscreen and Sunglasses
  • Insect repellent - high DEET  (use permethrin for ticks)
  • Other necessary hygiene or prescribed medication items
  • Baby powder, gold bond or body glide to prevent chafing
  • Neck cooler (This will be provided for everyone by the Ward)
  • Pen or Pencil for writing in Trek journal
  • 1 Treasured item (must be small enough to fit in bucket - no electronic items)

 Men should bring:
  • 2 pairs of canvas, or cotton pants (no denim fabric, jeans or levis)
  • 2 long-sleeved cotton shirts (no t-shirts, polo shirts, or shirts with words on them)
  • 1 wide- brimmed western style hat or straw hat (no baseball or military hats)
   Optional for Men:
   Vest, Suspenders, Compression shorts

 Women should bring:
  • 2 Blouses, long-sleeved, loose fitting, cotton
  • 2 Skirts, "boot length" (mid-calf, not on ground)
  •   -OR-
  • 2 Long- sleeved dresses, boot length (mid-calf, not on ground)
  • 1 or 2 bonnets or a straw hat
  • 1 pair bloomers or pantaloons or knee length shorts for under skirt/dress
  • Feminine hygiene supplies
   Optional for Women:
   Compression shorts (knee length), apron (unless skirt has pockets)

Optional Items:

  • Personal camera (non-cell phone type)
  • Harmonica or small musical instrument
  • Ear plugs
  • Old set of Scriptures
  • Fanny pack (optional)

Sleeping Gear:

Put these items in a duffle bag or large heavy‐duty plastic trash bag, labeled with your name, trek family name, and company color on the outside. Your sleeping bag and pad do NOT need to be packed in the bucket! All this must fit in your trash bag!!
  • 1 Warm sleeping bag, camping pad, and a tarp (6' X 8" min)
  • Pillow (if desired – might want this on the bus with you)
  • Extra blanket if your sleeping bag is not cold weather type

Please Do Not Bring These Items:

  • No Electronics (cell phones IPods, MP3’s, video games, lap tops, tablets, etc.)
  • Games or Playing cards
  • Jewelry or makeup
  • Candy or food of any kind except your sack lunch for the bus ride to Martins Cove

Note: Arrive at Trek wearing pioneer clothing from the list above and pack the rest of the items in your bucket. Write your name on everything that you would like to come home with you again! For items you can’t write on directly, use tape and a sharpie.
